HOUSTON A Houston man has been accused of kidnapping his estranged wife, dragging her into his car and choking and hitting her as he drove around for several hours.
Nicholas Hinojosa, 30 is charged with aggravated kidnapping.
On August 10, Hinojosa met with his common law wife of 10 years and the mother of her two children to discuss child custody. They were separated after he assaulted her on June 23, 2012, she explained to police.
At the time, the victim and her children were staying at her mother s apartment.
According to court documents, Hinojosa picked up his wife around 9 p.m. and they went to a pool hall to have the discussion. Around midnight, he brought her back home.
That s when he became angry that she wouldn t let him inside and he allegedly pulled out a knife. When she refused to let him in, he grabbed her by the hair with one hand, placed the knife to her neck and dragged her into his car, according to investigators.
He then allegedly drove her around for several hours, at one point choking her until she vomited and blacked out. He is also accused of punching her and slapping her, threatening her with a tire iron and choking her a second time.
The victim told police that she pretended to faint during the second choking to end the attack and that she tried to convince her husband that she had forgotten what had happened as a result of passing out.
Around 7 a.m. the next morning, he brought her back to her mother s apartment where she again refused him entry.
Police say he threatened her with a knife again, but she managed to escape into the house and call police.
