SUGAR LAND Fox Sports is reporting that former MLB pitcher and Cy Falls High School product Scott Kazmir will sign with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

Kazmir last pitched for the Los Anaheim Angels of Anaheim in 2011.

The left-handed starter spent eight seasons in the big leagues making him major league debut back in August of 2004 with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In 2009 he was traded to the Angels, but injuries kept him sidelined for most of his time out west.

Through his 8 year career, Kazmir had a record of 66-61 with a 4.14 ERA and 993 strikeouts.

Back in 2002 he and his teammate Clint Evers became the first set of pitchers from one high school to be selected in the first round of the MLB draft. Kazmir was originally drafted by the New York Mets before being sent to Tampa.

This isn t the first big name the Skeeters have brought in to play in Sugar Land. Two weeks ago, the Skeeters signed former Astros outfielder Jason Lane.
