EL PASO, Texas U.S. Customs agents found 30 bundles of marijuana hidden inside three framed pictures of Jesus Christ Tuesday.

The agents were checking vehicles at the El Paso crossing point when a young woman said she had nothing to declare but some framed art.

A drug-sniffing dog named Cesar alerted to three framed pictures in the vehicle so agents removed the backing. They found a total of 30 one-pound bags of pot hidden behind the three frames.

This is not the first time we have seen smugglers attempt to use religious figures and articles of faith to further their criminal enterprise, said William Molaski, Port Director for CBP in El Paso. What some might find offensive or sacrilegious has unfortunately become a standard operating procedure for drug smugglers. This would include using religious symbols, children, and senior citizens in their attempts to defeat the CBP inspection process.

The 22-year-old woman from Juarez was turned over to El Paso police.

El Paso border agents seized another 214 pounds of pot in two other busts Tuesday. No additional details were released.
