HOUSTON An elderly man may have suffered from some sort of medical issue when he crashed and died in northwest Harris County Thursday night.

The man, who was in his 70s, was traveling in a black Toyota Camry northbound on Hempstead Highway at Gessner around 9 p.m. when he suddenly swerved to the right and drove into a ditch.

The man died at the scene.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of trauma from the impact of the crash, which leads them to believe he may have had a heart attack or suffered from another medical condition.

They are awaiting autopsy reports for an official cause of death.
