HOUSTON An accident involving a big rig truck slowed traffic on I-10 East outbound Wednesday morning.

According to Houston TranStar, the crash happened shortly after 9 a.m. near Gregg Street just east of downtown.

I was sitting in my living room and watching the news. I heard the big boom and I got up and went towards the door said Vickie Paschal, a neighbor.

Police said the driver somehow lost control and landed on the barrier, taking chunks off it.

I walked to the corner and I seen it up here. someone could've gotten seriously injured said Paschal.

Two mainlanes and the shoulder were blocked, and Gregg Street was closed off at the underpass.

Naomi Ramirez was headed to the doctor's office when the chunks of concrete nearly missed her car.

Thank God I didn't pass by that time, said Ramirez.

I travel this way going to the store all the time. I m thankful it wasn't me, said Paschal.

Views from Air 11 showed the truck teetering on top of an outside concrete barrier, which was partially damaged. The truck was not hauling a trailer at the time of the incident.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and there were no immediate reports of injuries.

A wrecker safely removed the truck from the barrier, and the freeway reopened around 10:30 a.m.
