HOUSTON - Each year for over a decade, KHOU 11 rings in the holidays by collecting toys to benefit those served by The Salvation Army. This year, KHOU 11 invites you to be a Secret Santa to a child in need by donating to our annual toy drive.

From Thanksgiving Day through December 22, donations of new, unwrapped toys will be accepted at the KHOU 11 studio, located at 1945 Allen Parkway, as well as participating partner locations: Randalls, IHOP and Bel Furniture.

Collectively, there are 80 locations in Houston and surrounding areas to make a donation. Look for the giant toy box set up featuring KHOU 11 Chief Meteorologist David Paul.

This year, the station will also host two special toy drop-off events with David Paul, The Salvation Army Harbor Light Choir and more. The events are scheduled for Friday, December 6, from 4-8 p.m. at The Woodlands Mall, and the following week on Friday, December 13, from 4-8 p.m. at Sugar Land Town Square near City Hall.

Since it began in 2001, KHOU 11 s toy drive has grown to become one of Houston s largest toy collection efforts, generating nearly 25,000 gifts for area families in 2012. Donations collected at KHOU 11 and its partner locations will be distributed through the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. For over 120 years, The Salvation Army has provided Christmas assistance for disadvantaged children and seniors in our community.

Want to help even more? The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers at its Secret Santa Warehouse, Monday-Friday starting Dec. 2.
