HOUSTON The Houston Dynamo took a break from MLS play on Wednesday night to host and defeat FC Tucson, 2-0, in the 3rd round of the 100th US Open Cup.

The Dynamo got the scoring started mid-way through the first half. Alex Dixon knocked in the first tally of the night in the 26th minute off a Mike Chabala pass.

The game was 1-0 all the way until the 8th minute when Giles Barnes added the insurance goal the Dynamo were looking for all match. Barnes was able to get it into the net on a free kick.

Tyler Deric got the start at goal and Dynamo Academy product Bryan Salazar was also in the starting line-up.

The Dynamo advance to the 4th round of the US Open Cup and will face MLS rival FC Dallas on June 12.
