HOUSTON -- Officials are investigating what caused a fire to break out at an apartment complex in west Houston Monday evening.
The Houston Fire Department wascalled to an apartment complex at 7979 Westheimer around 8:30 p.m. The three-alarm fire was contained around 10 p.m.
Officials believe the fire started in one unit before spreading to at least two others.
Officials say the winds played a large role in battling the flames. At one point fire crews thought they had contained the fire, but the winds picked up and the fire spread.
Firefighters evacuated residents, and no injuries were reported.
Westheimer wasshut down in both directions between Stoney Brook Drive and Old Farm Road for more than an hour.
At least three units were destroyed by the blaze.
