HOUSTON -- A wreck involving two big trucksblocked the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway just west of downtown for several hours Monday morning.
The crashhappenednearHouston Avenue just after 5 a.m. HoustonTranStar reported one of the trucks spilled part ofits load, including a small work tractor,onto the roadway.
Policediverted drivers onto the frontage road for nearly five hours before the freeway was reopened.
Commuters were warned to use an alternate route due to the traffic backup, which was several miles long.
No injuries were reported.
It's not known what caused the crash, but many Houston-area roads were slick as rain moved in off the coast in the early morning hours.
