HOUSTON New charges were filed against a Houston woman whose 3-year-old daughter disappeared last year and is now believed to be dead.

Sabrina Maria Deleon appeared in probable cause court Saturday afternoon, and is now charged with injury to a child and tampering with evidence, her child s body, court records state.

The mother was already being held in the Harris County jail on a charge of child endangerment stemming from an incident involving her 6-year-old child.

During the hearing, investigators said they had received information from an acquaintance of Deleon s, who said the mother admitted that she threw her baby, 3-year-old Lee-onna Ramirez, in the trash after she died.

The acquaintance also told investigators that Deleon wrapped her child up in a blanket, put her in the trash can and put her body out with the garbage.

Deleon is being held on nearly $500,000 bond.

The investigation began in April when Deleon was involved in a car accident. Deleon was suspected of driving under the influence, while her 6-year-old was present in the vehicle.

An investigator with CPS who was assigned to Deleon s case began questioning the mother on the whereabouts of her other child, Lee-onna, and discovered that the girl was missing.

According to KHOU s sources, Deleon told investigators several different stories about what happened to the little girl.

In talking to mom, the worker became concerned that the mom s explanation of where the 3-year-old was not ringing true, said Gwen Carter with CPS.

A judge granted a request to have Deleon s 6-year-old child removed from her custody after CPS called for an emergency hearing Friday morning.
