HOUSTON -- Bond for Rik Melartin, aka The Finnisher, has been revoked and he has been arrested.

Melartin s attorney believes his client was taken into custody as he filled out paperwork Tuesday at the courthouse.

Jim Butler said Melartin turned himself in last week, handed over his passport, and bonded out. He said Melartin may not have signed all of the proper forms upon release, which is why his bond may have been revoked.

Prosecutors are concerned he could be a flight risk, since Melartin is from Finland.

He will remain in custody until at least Thursday, when a judge is scheduled to determine the conditions of his bond.

The 51-year-old Olympian is charged in the alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. His assistant, 37-year-old George Koutani is charged with indecency.

All of them worked at John Keating Chevrolet in Crosby, where the teen was allegedly paid for sex.

On Tuesday, Melartin s attorney spoke exclusively with KHOU 11 News and said his client is anxious to clear his name.

Mr. Melartin denies the accusations that have been made against him and he plans on fighting these charges no matter how long it takes, attorney Jim Butler said.

He also addressed speculation over the possibility of other victims.

I ve heard through the grapevine that there are people crawling out of the woodwork as people do in these situations, Butler said. Whether it s 15 minutes of fame or whether it s because Rik Melartin is now an easy target.

Butler said he has not seen any new charges against his client, while he questioned the timing of the current ones.

He said the alleged victim s parents also worked for Melartin and were at risk of losing work. Within days of hearing their daughter s story in October, he said they petitioned for a settlement of nearly $1 million.

Mr. Melartin refused this payment and a couple of weeks later criminal charges were filed and here we are today, Butler said.

The victim s mother, meantime, denied that ever happened.

I would say that he was a horrible snake, she said, describing Melartin.
