HARRIS COUNTY A northwest Harris County man shot and killed a friend during an argument over a television, sheriff deputies said.

It happened outside a corner food store near Old Bammel Road and Tomball Parkway. People familiar with the area point out a nearby memorial as why some fear going there at night.

(There are) usually guys out here selling dope and stuff like that, said Richard Barnes, who lives nearby.

Harris County Sheriff deputies said two friends came there to fight late Friday night. Instead, one shot the other.

It doesn t make any sense, said David Walker, who lives in the area. It s stupid. It s stupid.

Let me just tell you this, said a man who did not want to be identified. I know the guy who got shot and he didn t deserve to get shot like that.

That man said the suspect, Derion Caldwell, 28, and the victim, Almando Owens, 25, were feuding. However, he said Caldwell snapped Friday night when he thought Owens stole a TV.

Owens family did not want to talk to KHOU 11 News. A friend told us he cannot believe Owens stole anything from Caldwell.

I had no problem with him, said a man who would only identify himself as Krash. He was affiliated with my affiliations. We re blood brothers.

Investigators arrested Caldwell in connection with murder. They said he denies wrongdoing, but won t say much else.

It ain t the first time, Walker said.

Neighbors have been down this road before with violence and don t know which way to turn.

I ve got a 21-year-old son and I try to tell him to do the right thing, Walker said.

They just hope violence there ends soon.
