HOUSTON Police have arrested a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a Heights jogger over the weekend.

Leonell Antonio Murillo, 19, is charged with aggravated kidnapping and sexual assault.

The 43-year-old woman was attacked around7:45 p.m. Sunday while jogging in White Oak Parkon White Oaknear Studemont, according to Houston police.

The attacker was riding a bike when he approached the victim. He dragged her into some nearby bushes and assaulted her. The man told the victim he had a knife and he would kill her if she screamed.

The suspect then ordered the woman to call her family and ask them to pay a ransom for her release.

Relatives called police and told them the general area where the woman was jogging. While police were searching the area, the victim managed to break away from the suspect and run to an officer.

The suspect escaped.

Further investigation developed information on a person of interest later identified as Murillo.

He surrendered Tuesday and police say he confessed.

Even with word ofMurillo's arrest, other joggers in the area said they will continue to be on alert.

I was gonna stay away from the bayou area and just jog along the street where there's more people, said Lisa Gonzalez.
