HOUSTON All Houston Independent School District employees will be getting a pay raise, if the district approves a $1.7 billion operating budget Thursday.
The raise is a result of rising property values. Teachers would get at least a $1,100 bump. Other staff would get a 3 percent raise.
Schools will also get more money for supplies or field trips next year, but critics don t like proposed cuts to popular magnet programs.
Property owners expect to see your tax rate rise about 1 or 2 cents, because of the 2012 construction bond package.
