FLOWER MOUND The tutus and gowns were fit for a princess whose short life hasn't been all that magical.

But that changed Sunday as friends and family members watched four-year-old Rebecca Ferrell get a police escort to a princess tea party.

Just for her.

There s a lot to celebrate.

I can't remember how many medications she took each day, and now she's on none, which is a very unique experience, explained Rebecca's dad, Shawn Ferrell.

After two years battling leukemia, Ferrell says his daughter is the healthiest she's been. But during those worrisome days, the family knew they wanted some joy for their daughter.

So they got in touch with Make-A-Wish North Texas.

From the very start it was Disney... there was no doubt about that she wanted Disney, said wish-granter Manu Shanhi, who planned this regal party, upgraded Rebecca s ball gown, and made her big dream come true.

It's very special to both of us that Rebecca finished her treatment, so we're going to grant her wish, Shanhi said. Her wish is to go to Disney World.

The whole family leaves for Florida on Tuesday.

Two weeks of uphill battle and suddenly we get this vacation where we can kind of do whatever we want! Ferrell said. Still hasn t kicked in.

Well, maybe not for dad... but Rebecca is ready to finally enjoy a little magic.

I really like it! she said.

There is another twist to this story a special bond between Rebecca's family and their wish-granter, Manu Shanhi. We'll hear about it from the family themselves when they sit down for an interview during News 8 at 4 on Monday.
