HOUSTON Two people were injured Sunday morning after a major accident on the Gulf Freeway near the Almeda Genoa exit.
According to the Houston Police Department, a car heading south on the Gulf Freeway lost control and hit the railing over the Edgebrook overpass just after 8 a.m. The vehicle spun out of control across the freeway and hitting a pickup.
Then the car hit the railing on the other side and flipped over, police said.
Houston firefighters had to cut the two passengers out of the car.
The driver was airlifted by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious condition, while the passenger was transported by an ambulance with unknown injuries, police said.
The accident closed the freeway for three hours as HPD investigated the scene. Investigators said alcohol could be a factor in the accident.
