FRIENDSWOOD, Texas -- Just hours after investigators and journalists descended on the Eagle Lakes subdivision in response to a series of home burglaries, the burglars apparently hit again.
Friendswood police said a fourth home was burglarized between 10 a.m. on July 6 and noon on July 27 on Middlecreek Drive.
A caretaker visiting the home while the homeowners were away discovered the back kitchen window broken and the inside kitchen faucet running.
Police later found drawers pulled out and personal belonging strewn over the master bedroom and bathroom floors.
Police did not yet have a list of stolen items, but they believe the burglars used a pillowcase to take as many valuables as they could.
The burglary follows similar home break-ins in the Eagle Lakes subdivision on July 8, July 24 and July 25. Those homes on Pebble Lane, Lakeside Lane and Bob White Drive were also entered through a back door or window.
The burglars stole similar items: jewelry, guns, game systems, and computers. Those burglaries happened in the evening when the homeowners were away for only a few hours.
We're upset. I'm mad because a lot of precious memories were taken from me, said Susan Lowe whose home on Bob White Drive was the third burglarized last week. I'm still mad, and I'm sure I'll get over it but it's going to be a long time and I hope they get caught.
Friendswood police said the investigation is beginning to focus on juveniles as the possible suspects. The burglaries are happening near a bayou in the subdivision leading police to believe the suspect or suspects are probably working the bayou on foot.
Police asked residents in the area to report any suspicious activity in the vicinity of the bayou by calling 281-996-3300.
