HOUSTON Pull out your umbrella because Saturday will kick off a rainy weekend, said KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman.

Watch out for scattered storms to develop during the day, he said. It will be steamy too because before the storms get going we ll see temperatures spike into the mid-90s.

While there is a 50-percent chance of rain Saturday, the rain chance jumps to 60 percent on Sunday.

The rain will bring somewhat lower temperatures. High temps through the weekend and into next week will be in the low-90s.

Meanwhile in the southern Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Storm Helene has formed in the far southern Gulf of Mexico. Helene s maximum winds are 45 mph, and it s drifting very slowly to the northwest at 7 mph. Helene will likely continue drifting into the central Mexican coast during the weekend and poses no direct threat to the Texas Coast.
