GEORGETOWN, Texas -- The Georgetown police officer caught on camera tripping students at a state championship soccer game in April learned his punishment on Tuesday.
The Georgetown Police Department gave Officer George Bermudez a 40 day suspension without pay, and he does not have a right to appeal the punishment as previously reported. On Tuesday it was reported that Bermudez had 10 days to appeal with the Georgetown Civil Service Commission.
In April Bermudez was videotaped tripping and pushing students as they ran onto the field to celebrate the Vandegrift girls' soccer team's win.
The Georgetown Police Department originally would not disclose Bermudez's punishment.
The officer has five business days to accept his punishment. If he does not accept his punishment, Bermudez will be indefinitely suspended.
