SAN ANTONIO --A dispute between neighbors evolved into a SWAT standoff in West Bexar County on Thursday.
According to investigators, the incident happened after 10 p.m. in the 10300 block of Shady Meadows, near Pue Road and S.W. Loop 1604.Deputies told KENS 5 the disagreement erupted in gunfire.
There are reports the victim may have been shot as many as seven times. He was transported to University Hospital and is expected to recover. Police described the victim as coherent.
The alleged shooter then barricaded himself inside of a home and was believed to be armed.
Several houses in the vicinity were evacuated and Bexar County SWAT was called to the scene.
Authorities entered the shooter's home just before 2 a.m., after getting a warrant; however, the suspect was reportedly gone.
Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood by air with Department of Public Safety helicopters and ground patrol via the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. Nothing.
Investigators said an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous.
The residents who were evacuated were allowed to return back home.
Deputies said the shooter is a state detention officer at the Dominguez State jail in San Antonio.
