HOUSTON -- Harris County Sheriff s Office deputies conducted a street racing initiative this past weekend in west Harris County, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals.

The initiative was held on the same weekend as one of the biggest drag racing events in the country- TX2K. The event takes place in Austin County and draws thousands of spectators, many of which use the streets of Harris County to do racing of their own.

Jeffrey Nicholson, George Best, Matthew Armour, Cheyenne Phillips, Aaron Keener, Aaron Worley and Justin Radding were all arrested for street racing.

Derek Lacadie and Casey Eveleigh were arrested for reckless driving.
