IRVING, Texas -- Arun George calls it the worst day of his life.

The same day a cousin is killed, a good friend is arrested in the death.

Early Thursday morning, Pramod Paul of Irving was involved in an accident on I-635. Witnesses tell News 8 that both drivers were outside the vehicles when a third vehicle slammed into them.

Paul had died at the scene, and the other driver was able to jump out of the way.

Police arrested Jerry Matthew Abraham, a good friend of Paul's. Abraham was later taken to a hospital to treat injuries from the accident.

Family members and friends still feel left in the dark about how all this happened. They are wondering if Paul had called Abraham for help after the initial accident.

That's very plausible, and that I can see happening, too, George said.

Abraham remains at Parkland where family members say he is dealing with head and neck injuries.

Jerry would never hurt Pramod. I know that, 100 percent, George said. Jerry would never hurt him.

Paul leaves behind a wife and a child. Friends say he immigrated to the country roughly 10 years ago and was working at a hotel in North Texas.

He worked hard, and that's not the way he needs to go, George said. That's not the way he needs to leave this place.
