MCALLEN, Texas -- Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott says Democrat Wendy Davis wants to impose a liberal extreme agenda if elected governor.
Abbott told The Associated Press on Thursday that Davis won't win over female Texas voters that the state senator is counting on in her underdog bid to become governor in 2014.
Davis is expected to formally kick off her campaign later Thursday near Fort Worth.
Abbott is the early Republican favorite to replace Gov. Rick Perry, who has decided against running for a fourth full term in office.
Abbott said Davis' filibuster over abortion restrictions this summer that made her a national Democratic star was inconsequential given that the bill ultimately passed.
