HOUSTON Power has been restored at the Houston Zoo after the facility lost power Monday afternoon due to a fuse blowing out at Hermann Park, zoo officials said.

The zoo used gas generators to supply power to the commissary, where all of the food for the animals is stored, while the fuse was being fixed, officials said.

Portable generators were used for parts of the facility that are not powered by the backup generators.

Power was restored by 5:30 p.m.
