HOUSTON Houston police now believe the man who reported a woman missing and a possible kidnapping on Monday misled them.

The man told police a woman came running out of nowhere, screaming in Spanish that someone was trying to kill her.

He said she threw a passport to him as a man and woman in a metallic blue SUV dragged her away.

The passport pictured a woman named Elsa Romero who lives one street over from the that scene.

But Romero s husband said his wife is not missing and was at school with their son when the alleged kidnapping happened.

The other woman got in trouble, Romero said. Not my wife.

Romeros apparently didn t know her passport was missing.

Police are still investigating.
