HOUSTON - An officer responding to a 911 call struck a driver along Westheimer Road late Thursday, Houston police said.

According to officers at the scene, the Houston Police Department unit was on Dairy Ashford with its lights and siren activated when a car on Westheimer entered the intersection. The officer struck the side of the sedan.

The officer was sent to the hospital with a hand injury. The driver of the other car was not hurt.
