HOUSTON Trafficwasa messaround Terminals A andB at Bush Intercontinental Airport early Wednesday afternoon due to a gas leak, the Houston Fire Department said.

A construction worker hit a gas line with a backhoe outsideTerminal B around 12:30 p.m., according to HFD.

No evacuations were necessary and the leak was secured by 2 p.m, but traffic was stillbeing diverted away from the area as a precaution.

Traffic to Terminals A and B was affected. There was no roadway access to Terminal A so vehicles were being diverted by HPD

Drivers inside the Terminal B parking garage were not being allowed to leave, and drivers approaching Terminal B were being sent away. Arriving passengers were being routed through Terminal C.

Traffic was reportedly backed up to JFK Boulevard. Some passengers trying to catch a flight were getting out of vehicles and walking, according to KHOU 11 News reporter Brad Woodard.

There was no impact to flights, according to the airport system.
