HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Deputies said a person involved in a family disturbance led them on a chase on the northwest side of town early Thursday.

It was around 1:30 a.m. the Harris County Sheriff s Office was called to a home on West Road near Easton Commons. A caller reported a family disturbance in progress. As deputies arrived, they found the person in question leaving the scene in a Chrysler 300.

A deputy tried to pull over the sedan, but the driver allegedly sped up and refused to pull over.

The suspect got onto Highway 290, reaching speeds over 80 miles per hour, deputies said. The driver then exited 290 at Beltway 8 before getting back on the freeway outbound.

The suspect eventually hit a deputy s spike strips, and he came to a stop on Barker Cypress. He told deputies he fled because he had outstanding traffic tickets.

The sheriff s office did not release further info about the family disturbance.
