HARRIS COUNTY -- The man accused of shooting two Jacinto City police officers was in court on Friday.

Edgar Cuellar was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.

On Wednesday, the officers were trying to talk to Cuellar about an incident the night before when they say he opened fire on them.

SWAT officers shot and wounded Cuellar after a standoff.

Both of the wounded officers are recovering from their injuries.

Jacinto City Police Chief Joe Ayala said Friday that Sgt. Jennifer Simpson-Castaneda is in fair condition and could be released from the hospital in three days.

Chief Ayala said Lt. Dennis Walker is in stable condition in the ICUat Memorial Hermann Hospital.
