HOUSTON Houston police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found lying on the side of the street at a crash scene Tuesday in northeast Houston.

Paramedics were called to the scene of what was reported as a traffic accident on Peach Tree near Weaver, but when they arrived, they found a man lying in a ditch across the street from a pickup.

He had been shot multiple times.

Police said the 37-year-old victim lives nearby and was a manager at an Auto Zone. He was on his way to work when he was shot.

Family members identified the victim as Damian Johnson. They described him as a decent man, who would give you the shirt off his back if he could.

Just a family guy who tried to help people, said Jerell Johnson, the victim s brother.

He went on to make a personal plea to whoever committed the murder.

I just hope whoever it is comes forward so that we can find some closure, because it s very hard when you lose someone as close to you as that. It s very hard, he said.

Police do not know why Damian Johnson was targeted, but say robbery may be the possible motive.
