AUSTIN, Texas -- Part of an Austin mall was evacuated and locked down early Tuesday afternoon after police said there were reports of a man with a gun.

According to, the man was reportedly seen near the Nordstrom store inside BartonCreek Mall.

The Austin Police Department quickly responded and searched over the mall but never found any threats. During the search they asked people to stay away from the mall. They gave the all-clear via their Twitter page around 12:35 p.m.

The Austin Independent SchoolDistrcit said nearby schools were never placed on lock down.

A spokeswoman for Nordstromtold KVUEthe store was never on lockdown, and customers were free to walk in and out of the store despite the police presence. She said neither the store nor the mall were in danger at any point.
