HOUSTON The cold front is almost on our doorstep, with a few showers just to the north of Houston, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.

An early fall cool front will extract some of the humidity out of the air, so while the first half of Saturday will be muggy and warm, relief should come as early as tonight.

The 7-day forecast shows a lot of clear and sunny skies, with highs in the low 90s and mornings as cool as the low 60s.

Out in the tropics, Leslie has been downgraded to a tropical storm with sustained winds at 65mph. Hurricane Michael and Leslie are actually expected to collide and merge before heading back to the east.
