HOUSTON Community leaders and grieving family members gathered at the scene of a triple shooting Wednesday to call for an end to the gunfire.

They feared retaliation for what happened and worried things could get worse.

When you re dealing with young brothers from the streets, the mentality is if you take one of ours, we ll take one of yours, said activist Quanell X.

One of the victims was Erica Dotson, a 29-year-old mother of three young girls. According to a source close to the investigation, she had just asked rapper Trae Tha Truth for his autograph when she was hit by gunfire.

They said there were over 400 people out here, said Sylvia Price, the victim s aunt. Someone saw it. And we re just asking someone to turn them in.

The victim s grandmother said Dotson didn t deserve what happened.

It s senseless, said Sandra Polk. There s no excuse for it. Three kids lost their mother over nothing.
