HOUSTON -- The last two children still hospitalized from a home daycare center fire in Houston are showing signs of improvement.

Jo Ann Zuniga is spokeswoman for the Shiners Hospital for Children in Galveston. She says both children remain in critical but stable condition Sunday but are showing signs of improvement.

Four other children died from their injuries suffered in the fire at Jackie s Child Care in western Houston on Thursday.

Texas investigators are looking into whether seven preschoolers may have been left alone in the home before the fire broke out. No problems had been reported since the day care was licensed. Witnesses who lived nearby reported seeing the day care s operator, 22-year-old Jessica Tata, arrive at her one-story home in a minivan Thursday and then run out, screaming for help.
