HOUSTON One residence was evacuated Wednesday after a construction crew hit a gas line around 11 a.m. in northwest Harris County, according to the Spring Fire Department.

It happened right at the entrance to the Covington Bridge subdivision located along the 3200 block of Spring Cypress at Settlers Bridge.

They tried to evacuate other residences, but no one was home, SFDofficials said.

A six-inch plastic gas main was damaged by the third-party construction crew, SFD officials said. The repairs were expected to be completed by 5 p.m.

Spring Cypress was shut down in both directions due to the gas leak, but has since been reopened.

No injuries were reported.
