HOUSTON One woman was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle wreck in Kingwood.

The wreck happened around 9:20 a.m. just west of the intersection ofKingwood Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway.

Houston police said a person driving a gray Cadillac was traveling eastbound on Kingwood Drive at a high rate speed when it struck the rear end of a gold-colored Monte Carlo.

The driver of the Monte Carlo lost control of her vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a tree. The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

An 8-year-old girl was in the front passenger seat of the Monte Carlo was transported to Texas Children s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Houston police said the driver of the Cadillac was found to be impaired and was taken into custody.

Kingwood Drive was blocked in both directions after the wreck.
