UNIONTOWN, Pa. - A western Pennsylvania woman is accused of taking advantage of county jail guards who apparently were confused by her similar-sounding name and released her to a bail bondsman looking for another inmate.

Fayette County Warden Brian Miller says 29-year-old Evelyn Grace Campbell of Uniontown is back in the county lockup and now faces an escape charge after Friday s mix-up.

That s when the bondman showed up to post $500 bail on behalf of another inmate, Maretta Ruth Gamble.

The warden believes Campbell stepped forward when guards called for Gamble - then escaped after telling the bail bondsman she didn t have identification before he let her sign the release papers.

Miller says the guards and bail bondsman should have had photos of both women. The mix-up is being investigated by the jail.
