THE WOODLANDS, Texas Two-year-old Dylan Rivera is a handful and has the honor of flipping the switch at Thursday evening s Christmas tree lighting in The Woodlands.

He is really a people person no matter where we are at, said Daniel Rivera, Dylan s father.

Even at his young age, Dylan sets an example for everyone.

From one minute to the next you don t know what could happen to your family, said Stephanie Rivera, Dylan s mother. From one day to the other our lives were just torn apart.

Dylan was not even two and recovering from one surgery, when a large tumor was discovered on his brain stem -- stage four cancer. Immediate surgery was completed to try and save his life.

Know that we are just going to overcome it and look to the future, Daniel said.

Dylan s story got to the folks who plan the holiday lighting.

He will be the youngest person ever to light the Woodland s holiday tree at Market Street. It has more than 25,000 lights and artificial snow.
