THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Montgomery County Sheriff s Office is investigating more than a dozen break-ins at residences and even more car break-ins in The Woodlands. Officials believe all of the incidents are related.

Officials said they have increased patrols in The Woodland, but the crimes have continued and now they need your help.

The home break-ins started in January, and are occurring all of the city.

Sheriff s investigators say they think the crooks are watching houses in neighborhoods and when residents appear to leave for work they strike.

The crooks pull right into the driveway. Then, they knock on the door to see if anyone is home. If not, they proceed to pry open the back door or break a window to get in.

Jewelry and electronics are the most popular items stolen, according to officials.

Deputies are asking neighbors to help each other and help themselves.

Luckily in the community where I live there are a lot of retired people, said Woodlands resident Adrian Espinoza, They are always keeping an eye on things.

If there were a car or a person out of place, it would definitely send up some red flags, said Woodlands resident Tracy Halverson.

Authorities hope someone will notice something out of the ordinary and will call it in.

There have been reports of a tan, older model Cadillac seen in the area of some of the break-ins.

Anyone with information about these crimes are asked to call the Montgomery County Sheriff s Office at 1-936-760-5800.
