HOUSTON-- Houston police are asking for the public s help in identifying several people seen ina surveillance videoas they robbed a Fifth Ward pawn shop.
It happened at about 1 p.m. on Dec. 12 at EZ pawn located in the 5300 block of the East Freeway.
They probably broke the glass showcase in five different locations to get products that were scattered throughout the store, said Officer Ken Nealy with the Houston Police Department.
In the video, the men roll up to the store and hop out from all sides. As they are going in, a customer on her way out is thrown to the ground.
The suspects spend the next two minutes, smashing display cases and stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry.
It gives the appearance that they have no fear nor do they care about the safety of the employees or the customers that may be inside there, said Nealy.
As if the damage already done wasn't enough, a suspect swings his sledgehammer one more time before leaving the store.
I really haven't determined what his motive was, but he did use the hammer and struck through those TVs, he said.
Police are sharing the video in hopes someone will recognize either the men or the getaway vehicle used in the heist.
There is no good description of the men but police describe the car as a black Dodge Charger with chrome door handles and windshield wipers.
Anyone with information on the suspects wanted in this case is asked to call HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
