HOUSTON Houston police were called to an HEB store parking lot on the city s west side after gunfire broke out Tuesday evening.
According to the Houston Police Department, the first 911 calls came in around 9:30 p.m.
Witnesses said someone in a passing vehicle opened fire on a white sedan in the store s parking lot, located at Westheimer and Kirkwood. Police said the sedan was struck by bullets, but no injuries were reported.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
A witness at a neighboring Chik-fil-A restaurant said a group of curious children came outside with ice cream to see what the gunshots were all about.
All the children that were eating their ice cream came filing out, said one witness. About 25 or more, standing not a hundred feet away from the second car that was getting shot at. They were just eating their ice cream watching not two minutes after the smoke cleared. So it was kind of strange. Like the new America have your ice cream, and watch a gunfight.
A store security guard quickly made them all go back inside the Chik-fil-A as police arrived at the scene.
Two people in the white sedan were taken in for questioning. Police hope the grocery store s surveillance video will point them to the shooter.
