BRENHAM,Texas Brenham High School football fans are buying T-shirts to support a new team after a player suffered a stroke.

At Creatively Yours, there is a crowd of people buying as much Cub green as they can afford.

Today is Friday and the big game, said Belina Gibson, a fan.

But it is not Brenham High School s name being pressed onto T-shirts. There is another team driving sales.

Team Justin T-shirts (are) everywhere, said Betty Wilson, another fan. (They are) all on Facebook (and) at the schools. I took my son to school this morning.

We got Team Justin on the front and our son s number on the back, said one parent at the store.

Justin Davis, everybody s pulling in for him, said Debbie Wesnecki, the store owner.

Last week, Brenham senior defensive back Justin Davis had a stroke at practice. He s been in critical condition ever since. However, he is improving. Friends said at some point Davis may be placed at the TIRR rehab facility in the Houston Medical Center.

They re good people we ve known for a long time, Wilson said of Davis and his mother Misti, who works for the school district.

Many people in Brenham know the Davis well. So, they started something special inside Wesnecki s store to help the family.

We started getting orders in Monday morning, Wesnecki said. We re closed. But, everybody was emailing and texting because it s a small community and we know each other. So, people were calling me and saying, I m going to order this many shirts.

They have five bins of orders ready to be picked up. The staff can barely keep up with demand. So, far the store has sold more than 300 shirts. Each costs $15 with $5 going to help the Davis family pay medical bills. Team Justin hopes to donate more than a thousand dollars.

(Justin s mom) will have to have a hotel, gas and stuff, Wesnecki said. So, hopefully, this is going to help out.

Others are painting cars with the same goal and same team in mind.
