HOUSTON After an evening of storms Friday, Saturday will bring more steamy heat for August, KHOU 11 News Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman said.

It will be another hot one. I don t think we ll see much in the way of rain, the front that produced storms Friday is expected to fall apart by Saturday afternoon.

Those storms brought gusty winds, heavy rain and left nearly 11,000 homes and businesses without power. Residents reported marble-sized hail in New Waverly.

Saturday holds a 20-percent chance of rain and the seven-day forecast shows it remains through Monday.

Highs will remain in the mid-to-upper 90s through the weekend.

Tropical Depression 7 formed Thursday and if it becomes a storm, it will be called Gordon. It was moving to the west steadily at 24 mph with max winds at 35 mph.

The National Hurricane Center indicated that even though it will strengthen to a tropical storm, it will weaken after passing south of Puerto Rico.
