DICKINSON, Texas The city s Festival of Lights opened during the weekend at Paul Hopkins Park on FM 517 in Dickinson. There is no admission charge.
The festival is open each night 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. through Jan. 1. The festival features a concession stand, a cookie making hut and a blinky booth where you can buy stuff that blinks.
Organizers said there are more than 1.5 million lights for the event, which is in its 13th year.
There are shuttles running from True Cross Catholic Church on FM 517 near Interstate 45. It will run Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and the entire week of Christmas, Festival of Lights committee president Kerry Neves said.
When the shuttles are running, there is no parking at the park, other than handicapped on the west side. Above, Ken Suderman tweaks a lighting display during final preparations.
