FARGO, North Dakota -- A federal judge in North Dakota says a Texas man awaiting sentencing in an investment fraud case can return home until the hearing.

Verlin Swartzendruber pleaded guilty in May to wire fraud, after he was charged with 11 felony counts. Court documents accuse Swartzendruber of soliciting between $14 million and $16 million from more than 500 investors in a bank trading scheme.

He s facing a prison term of no more than five years.

Swartzendruber has been spending the summer at Strawberry Lake Christian Bible Camp in Minnesota. U.S. District Judge Ralph Erickson is allowing Swartzendruber to return to Texas until his Oct. 25 sentencing.
