HOUSTON The daughter of a Cy-Fair fire captain was killed when a car and a pickup truck collided on Highway 6 early Thursday morning.

Harris County deputies and Cy-Fair firefighters responded to the scene around 2:15 a.m.

Witnesses told investigators the pickup was traveling north on Highway 6 without its headlights on when the car, which was traveling south, attempted to turn left into a Whataburger parking lot.

Witnesses said the pickup T-boned the yellow car, killing the female passenger.

The driver of that pickup truck has failed field sobriety tests and he s currently in custody, Sgt. S. Wolverton said.

Wolverton said the pickup driver admitted he d been drinking, and investigators found receipts from bars in his wallet. The pickup driver was not injured in the crash.

Wolverton said a prosecutor was at the scene, working to determine if DWI or intoxication manslaughter charges would be filed.

The driver of the car was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

[The driver of the car] also had signs of intoxication on him, and it appears we will be filing DWI charges against him as well, Wolverton said.

The identities of the persons involved in the crash were not released.
