HOUSTON Mike Miller is a teacher at Crossroads Alternative Technology School in Alief ISD. When he isn t in the classroom though, you can usually find him on the basketball floor.

4 years ago, Miller created the Alief Clovers, an AAU basketball team designed to give students that don t get that much exposure a chance to get a scholarship.

Since he started the program, eight student-athletes have received scholarships.

Miller pays to enter the team into tournaments out of his own pocket. He s using sports to give kids where he grew up a chance at a better life.

KHOU 11 Sports reporter Daniel Gotera has the story.
