HOUSTON The Houston Texans have waived 2013 third round pick Brennan Williams. ESPN was the first to report the move and the team made it official on Monday afternoon.

The report by ESPN indicated that Williams was waived with the failed physical designation.

Williams, 23, missed his rookie season after undergoing microfracture knee surgery. There were hopes that coming into 2014, the North Carolina product would be able to fight for a job at right tackle. Unfortunately, Williams could never fully recover from him injury.

Both of the team 3rd round picks of 2013 are no longer with the team. OLB Sam Montgomery was cut last year before the season started.

In addition to waiving Williams, the Texans also announced that they have placed three players on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List. LB Brian Cushing, DT Louis Nix, and OLB Trevardo Williams.

Cushing said early in July that he expects to be ready to go for Training Camp.

Louis Nix, who many hope will be able to compete for that starting nose tackle spot, missed parts of the summer work-outs with an undisclosed minor injury.

Texans rookies reported to camp on Monday. The veterans will report on Friday and the first practice will take place on Saturday, June 26th.
