GALVESTON The seaweed came in like a summer wind and landed on Galveston s beaches. Officials said they expect more before the season is over.
Seaweed washing ashore is nothing new to the island, but Robert Webster, a researcher at Texas A&M University at Galveston, said this year s bloom appears to be heavier than ones that have occurred in the recent past.
I ve been studying it since 05 and I haven t seen it this bad, Webster said.
