SAN ANTONIO -- A local attorney at the center of a federal investigation into alleged corruption has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court.

San Antonio Attorney Al Acevedo pleaded guilty to one count of bribery or theft concerning programs receiving federal funds.

Judge Xavier Rodriguez heard the plea Monday morning, after two other federal judges recused themselves late last week.

The court is expected to unseal a majority of the plea agreement later Monday.

Acevedo faces up to ten years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. He was not taken into custody and is expected to be released on bond pending sentencing at a later date.
